Where ever we go, will always be together

This year the 8 graders went to the city of Huaraz for our study trips, Huaraz is the capital of the state Ancash at the west north of Peru. It lies 3800 meters over the sea level. The climate is very peculiar, it has 6 months of summer and 6 month of winter, it has 23 mountains with snow. Huaraz produces corn, and quinua. And there are many places to visit.

Yungay cementery

Yungay
At our first visit we went to Yungay, a town that many years ago has suffer many death because a part of the mountain called Huascaran fell and a landslide happen and killed almost all the people in the town.
There is a story that there was a circus  and many children save because the circus was out side of the town, but the saddest part was that more than a 20 000 people died buried with the availing in 1970.
In this photo we are in the cemetery that was built in honor of all the deaths that happen because of the landslide.
We felt sorry for all these people and start praying. It was a very sad experience. And also there was coffin that said "Honey, run and save your life", and the woman in the coffin died to save her daughter life, that was very touching for our hearts.

El Callejón de Huaylas

Callejon de Huaylas
Our next visit wa to The Callejón of Huaylas is also known as the Valley of Santa and its located 3,052 meters above the sea level. During the Emancipation of Bolivar, he reaches Caraz the 1st of December of 1823. At the Republican time, the district of Caraz was created by the Liberator Simon Bolivar the 29th of December of 1856. Boat ride

Lakes
At The Callejon de Huaylas we visit Chinancocha, or female lake, is a lagoon that is located in Huascaran National Park near Llanganuco in Yungay. It lies at an altitude of 3850 meters and covers an area of 548.120 km².

Among the flora, in this lake's shore, we could found the Queñual trees forest. The lake is characterized by its green turquoise water. This lakes are form bye the melting ice from the mountain Huascaran. We could have the experience of sailing across this beautiful with a little boat called Quenualito and also we could touch the water the was freezing and very cold.
The other lake is called Orconcocha also known as the male lake, that is located at the end of the valley and it's water color is light blue.

The guide told us a beautyfull story. The story is about a laborious and peaceful tribe. Nothing disturbed the order of life in that happy place, until one day someone came to the tribe, a badly wounded soldier, with an order for the big boss. It was the interview and  said the soldier home warriors looted the people of Cusco, ruthlessly killing and raping. He said further that these Incas were with the direction of this tribe, and they should be prepared to receive them.
They should do something. After thinking carefully, the big boss ordered his best warriors to go for the head of the Incas and expose a policy of peace. It was. Days later, the soldiers returned with the most renowned warrior of the invading tribe, called Huascar, who had been commissioned by the leader answering the MESSAGE of peace, but this was to stay in that crew until his people out with the notices.
Upon receiving news of the young warrior Cusco, the big boss was delighted. Everything was perfect, until one day came, a beautiful girl. The Cuzco fell in love with her, soon learned his name, Huandy, the daughter of the great chief. The two fell in love.
They met one evening she brought him food. They talked, they fell in love and agreed to meet at the river bank. It happened just as planned, they promised each other never to abandon. Huandy doubted that his father let them be happy so they had to flee. And they fled, but did not get very far. Because the big boss was already aware of this. Disappointed with the attitude of his guest and his daughter's disobedience, he let escape and then catch them on the road and show their real anger.
And so caught, subdued and satisfied and, tied them to sticks placed in strategic locations, where one could see the other suffer to death. Huascar, without illusions, seeing his beloved died and only a creek separating it her, swore revenge on those who were not allowed to be happy. He began to mourn, and she wept, and did so until dry inside; the tears of the maiden Chinanchocha formed the lake (lagoon female), and Huascar, Lake Orconcocha (lagoon male). It was the last breath.

Callejon de Conchucos
The Callejon of Conchucos is at the slope of the Cordillera Blanca and has a very difficult geography. On our way over there we past many towns Llamelin, San Luis Pomabamba and Shias. The main atraction is the Memorail Arqueological Chavin that belogs to the town of Huari. Many time ago little groups like the huaris, los pincos, los piscopanpas y los conchucos in the conquest period. It is named after the group of people called Conchucos that were killed at the conquest time. This was a very long and tired trip of 4 hours.

Chavin

And finally we meet with our past, Chavín, a pre-Incan culture that left us many legacies and their ruins of a great city at the “Chavín de Huantar” that show us how they life and their vision of the world.

Chavín was a center were many nomads from different parts of the continent came to visit them for religious festivals, trading, they were great doctors and they had a important theory about plants they were 3 groups: sacred plant, good plants and bad plants. For these people the hell was related to the snake and the birds were from heaven.
They had many idols and gods the most important were: Lanzón Monolitico, Obelisco Tello and Estela de Raimondi.

Cabezas Clavas
They knew a lot of the water and made hydraulic channels through all the city, also acoustic systems that you can hear the sound even though you are far, and it was impressive how you could hear the sound very clear form many part, they were also great astronomers and the principal constellation was Orion and guide them in their trips, seven was the perfect number, many things there are divided into seven parts. The Andean New Year is June 21.

We had the chance to see the Lanzón Monolitico, that means made in one piece of rock, in is a characters that has many human and animal characteristics we could see it a certain distance and it was very interesting how it was represented and it seems that it was looking ant you in a mad way, the details were very well made, this experience was very interesting because we could see how our ancestors lived many years ago.
